The Battle of Malta €1,320 High Roller is well under way with 143 runners so far.

Among those already in seats are Scottish pro Gordon Huntly, Battle of Malta charity event winner Paul Jux-Holderness (who beat tennis legend Boris Becker heads-up), 888poker Ambassador Ana Marquez (who was runner-up in the Ladies event last night), Ireland’s Davey Daragh, Grosvenor Passport winner David Gee, last year’s Main Event champion Nadav Lipszyc, WPT Deepstacks Player of the Year Rex Clinkscales, and his girlfriend Ting Ho, who will no doubt be accompanied by her cute Maltese terrier Wawa Ho.

The Main Event is currently down to just 213 players. Among those still in contention are Grosvenor Ambassador Andy Hills, top Estonian player Henri Kasper, Portugal’s Henrique Pinho, Dutch pro Mateusz Moolhuizen, French pro Fabrice Soulier, 888poker Ambassador Sofia Lovgren, Scottish poker commentator and top online player Andrew “Picasso” Hedley, EPT Monaco finalist Sergio Castelluccio, British cash game player Gary Banks and www.untiltpoker.com founder Gali Dovzhenko.

There is no doubt that this year’s Battle of Malta has been a runaway success. With 3,815 players, the €1 million guarantee event at Casino Malta didn’t just top last year’s record-breaking field, it came pretty close to doubling it.

Held in the spacious new venue of the Eden Arena at the InterContinental Arena Conference Centre, the amazing turnout has created a gargantuan prize pool of €1,850,760 with 570 players getting a share, and €300,000 to the winner.
