And we’re off! Battle of Malta super satellite expected to attract huge field

A ton of players are expected to compete in tonight’s super satellite for Day 1a of the Battle of Malta Main Event. The €55+€5 satellite, which has unlimited re-entries, starts at 6pm in the Cettina De Cesare room at the InterContinental Arena Conference Centre.

Dozens of local players have been scooping up seats at Casino Malta’s regular live satellites for the last few months. However tonight’s satellite will be a whole different ball game, with a huge influx of overseas players already in town and eager to snag a seat in the €1 million guarantee Main Event for just €60.

Satellite players will get a 10,000 starting stack with 20-minute blind levels. Day 1a of the €550 Battle of Malta Main Event kicks off at 1pm tomorrow (Thursday) in the spacious Eden Arena and will be live streamed throughout.

A massive field is expected; last year the Main Event attracted a staggering 2,074 entries, making it the largest poker tournament ever held in Malta. Organisers are expecting this year’s event to break records yet again.
