Hard to believe but this is already the seventh edition of the Battle of Malta. Will this be the biggest one? We sure think it can be.
Our TV host Laura Cornelius has just said the magic words, and with a drum roll and some dramatic music, we’re once more battling it out. Shuffle up and deal!
We’ve got to say, this new venue is amazing. The Intercontinental Hotel has provided the event with a gigantic, modern conference hall that can host more than 140 tables.
This also means that for the first time, all the events of the Battle of Malta will take place in the same room. How many players will there be? We don’t know, but in the end, there can be only one.
The tournament starts with blind levels 100/100, and the starting stacks are 25k. We’ll soon be back with some more player numbers.
We’ve already found some familiar faces. Malta’s own poker mama Jackie Cachia is here, as is Jonas Hähnert from Sweden, the only player ever to reach the main event final table twice!
Special prizes galore!
Sponsors are the bread and butter for every poker event, but for the Battle of Malta, they’re also the photographer, the outfitter, and the DJ.
Laura Cornelius just announced that the first player to find a Royal Flush will get a brand new GoPro camera, the first Full House will receive an 888 kit, and today’s bubble boy will walk away with a pair of Sony Headphones to sooth the pain.
