Massive Thank You as the Battle of Malta Sets New Records
The Battle of Malta extends its gratitude to the thousands of players that helped set a new gold standard for the festival at the 2024 Battle of Malta Autumn Edition from October 29 to November 6 at Casino Malta and the Eden Arena at the luxurious Intercontinental Hotel Malta.
Records were broken left and right with nearly €4.8 million in total guaranteed prize pools to break the pre-pandemic Battle of Malta record of nearly €3.8 million in total prize pools in October 2019 by more than €1 million.
Players came to battle from more than 60 different countries helping the iconic Battle of Malta Main Event smash previous records with 5,799 entries creating a €2,713,865 prize pool.
The live streamed final table of the event provided some excitement with Greece’s Vasileios Zisis seemingly cruisingalong to potential set another record in becoming the first two-time champion after winning the 2024 Battle of Malta Spring Edition Main Event for €100,000. Zisis locked up a larger prize of €160,800 with the chip lead facing heads-up against Spain’s Cosme Gomez Martinez. Instead of tasting victory for a second time this year, Martinez came back to win the 2024 Battle of Malta Autumn Edition for €255,800. The top prize also set a new record, eclipsing the €247,167 Serghii Lisii won during the 2019 Battle of Malta Autumn Edition Main Event after defeating Stephen “The Viking” van Zadelhoff during heads-up play.
The Battle of Malta Main Event is a true test of endurance with players battling for five straight days. Most players approved of the changes including two opening flights per day, half priced flights, and big stack flight bonuses and our door is open as we continue to set new records for years to come.
Thank you again to all of the players and the countless hours from the staff helping make the Battle of Malta a great success. See you in Malta for the 2025 Battle of Malta Spring Edition from April 2-9. Keep your eyes peeled for the full schedule in the coming weeks.
