Casino Malta is thrilled to announce that an online version of the Battle of Malta festival will be starting tomorrow (Sunday, July 10) on GGPoker complete with a €25 million guarantee.
GGPoker is a long-time partner of Casino Malta after hosting Battle of Malta online twice during the pandemic. This year’s online festival will be taking place throughout July with 18 feature events including the $1 million guarantee Global MILLION$ European Cup and €2.5 million Main Event. The series will also include a ton of “Road to Malta” qualifier tournaments for the live Battle of Malta festival which is taking place October 5 to 12 in St Julian’s, one of the island’s top tourist resorts.
An additional 25 seat-and-hotel packages for the live event will be up for grabs via the Battle of Malta Online Leaderboard which will reward players throughout the series. Each Battle of Malta seat-and-hotel prize package is worth €1,555.
The online festival pays more than a passing tribute to Game of Thrones, some of which was filmed in the historic Maltese town of Mdina. The online Battle of Malta kicks off at 6pm UTC on Sunday with the €110 Kings Landing Opener.
Other highlights during the three-week event – Europe’s largest mid-stakes festival – include the €500k guaranteed Grand Harbour Superstack and final stage of the €1 million guarantee Siege of Malta Bounty MILLION$. The Kings of Tallinn Main Event is another exciting event; it comes with a €400,000 guarantee and kicks off Sunday, July 17 while the GGMasters Royal Championship – another tournament with a €1m guarantee – takes place on the final day: Sunday, July 31
Also on the schedule are numerous “Omaholic” tournaments with a range of different buy-in levels and formats including a High Roller and Deepstack. Omaholic tournaments are in PLO-NL format – meaning it’s played as Pot Limit preflop but becomes no limit after the flop.

In 2020, Rodrigo “Eureka!!” Selouan from Brazil bested a field of 8,789 entries in the first online Battle of Malta to win $636,478. And last year, New Zealand’s “raggaz” topped a 6,591-entry online field to win the €3 million guarantee Main Event for €378,285 with Polish superstar Dzmitry Urbanovich finishing third for €212,724.
The €1 million guarantee bricks-and-mortar Battle of Malta in October is being held at the luxurious Intercontinental Conference Centre in St Julian’s. It will cost just €500 + €55 to enter and runs from October 5 to October 12. There will be six start flights in total, including two turbo Day 1s. All those surviving Day 1 will make the money with Day 2 scheduled for October 9.
The festival will also feature numerous other tournaments including a High Roller, bounty tournaments, turbos, PLO and much more. October is a great time to visit Malta with excellent sunny weather, lovely beaches and a ton of tourist amenities. It will be the second live Battle of Malta this year: a Spring edition of Battle of Malta took place in April featuring a €500,000 guarantee and attracting nearly 2,600 entries. The massive €1,244,160 prize pool was divvied up among some 389 players with winner Giuseppe Rosa from Italy scooping €200,340.
