Our Italian colleague Erika has her eye on the Ladies event and has supplied us with some of her first impressions.

Curious? So are we! Here’s her report:

“One of the differences between the men and woman is that the latter look more relaxed at the poker table. At least that’s what it seems.

“In fact, making a first round among the tables we realized that the female game can get tricky, too. Although until now we haven’t seen a big hand to tell you but we didn’t miss first attempts to bluff (of course always with a smile on the face) and some big pots have already been collected.

“It’s hard at the moment to say who among the 60 women currently sitting is already the chip leader and especially now that Lena Evans has just sat at the table. We want to wait a while before to do our usual stack count.

“Of course we’re always ready to catch curious stories. Indeed one of most particular things we noticed at the Ladies tables is that the number of selfies is much higher than the Main Event. Ah, and of course the outfits.

“There are very elegant and colourful women, sporty women and others with a more sophisticated look to catch the eye. There are players wearing the classic baseball cap, sunglasses and even sponsored ones, including Evans.

“If there’s one thing that we were pleased to notice and gave us literally “hearts in the eyes” is the fact that husbands, boyfriends and all men in general want the ladies feeling their presence. As spectators at the table or simply via whatsapp they are there.

“I just won a pot” wrote one of the players to her boyfriend. We didn’t respect privacy, it’s true, but even if a poker field can be hard, be romantic, it’s always a good feeling!”
