The Battle of Malta has just crossed the 3,000 player mark, meaning that even after seven years of continuous growth, from a humble 350 friends event to a huge 2,000 player tournament, it still grew by more than 50%!
There’ll be a prize pool of over €1.5 million this year and that is still in a €550 tournament.
There are players from the US, Sri Lanka and even Australia. More than 700 players bought or earned packages online across several poker platforms.
That’s more than in all the previous years combined.
30 players are cheering as we write this because they just won their own tickets to the main event in this morning’s satellite. There is tournament for the ladies and one for Omaha fans today, and they’ll be sold out like virtually every side event has been at the BOM in past years.
So … poker is dead, huh?
