Wiktor Weiner

It was another fast and furious day of poker action at Casino Malta on May 31, as the Battle of Malta 2026 Summer Edition completed its final weekend. After the conclusion of the final flight of the €600 Main Event, the prize pool was finalized at €1,186,962, with €176,070 awaiting the champion, and the field was then reduced to 75 players after the conclusion of Day 2.

Kristian Holmgren of Norway (3,760,000) leads from Greek duo, Dimitrios Stampoultzis (3,450,000) and Konstantinos Asgoudakis (3,050,000), with the players returning today, June 1, at 4 p.m. for Day 3.

In the other action, Wiktor Weiner of Poland proved himself to be a four-card master, as he secured his second PLO trophy of the week in the €250 PLO 4/5 card, after his earlier victory in the €250 PLO Masters (4,5,6 card), while David Elliot of the United Kingdom emerged as the last player standing in the €200 Casino Malta PokerHouse NLH.

Another Brit, Peter Brackley, took the end of Day 1 chip lead in the €300 NLH Bounty event, while the €1,100 Star Yes High Roller completed its sole opening flight. Offering a huge €200,000 guarantee, Krenar Dervishi of Albania (236,250) leads 68 qualifiers for Day 2, with late registration open for two further one-hour levels at the start of play.

Another massive sheet of tournaments is on the slate today, as Day 2’s of the High Roller and €300 Bounty Hunter take place, while the Beer Poker Tour and Novibet Cuatro PKO events kick off.

Entries: 75/2,667
Prize Pool: €1,186,962

Day 24 has concluded, and the remaining 75 players are now all bagging their chips. Hopefully, they’ll make the sensible decision and get a decent night’s sleep; they’ll take their seats again tomorrow, June 1, at 16:00, and pick up the fight for the title and the €176,070 first-place payout. The blinds will be 20,000/40,000 then (with a 40,000 Ante, of course).

That wraps up today’s live coverage; thanks to everyone who’s been following along with the action. The chip counts will be uploaded as soon as possible.

Angelo Censabella: T8
Szymon Politowski: KK

“Wow,” Politowski whispered as he saw his opponent’s holdings. The 9 didn’t see Politowski improve, and Censabella won what has to be one of the biggest pot of the tournament this far.

Zournatzidis continued on the aggressive path with a 50,000 bet on the 463 flop, and Caramia made the call, again after spending some time in the tank. Zournatzidis slowed down and checked the wt 5 river. Caramia considered his options for another five minutes before betting 50,000. Zournatzidis swiftly mucked.

First to act, Raab checked the 49A flop. Ziemichod continued for 25,000, and was then faced with a 75,000 raise from Caramia. Raab folded out of turn, Muldur folded, and Ziemichod counted out the chips and made the call.

The two contestants checked down the 92 runout.

Parrinello Dances the Blues 31 May 20:06 by Christoffer

€600 Main Event Day 2
Level 20: 6,000/12,000 (12,000)
Entries: 200/2,667
Prize Pool: €1,186,962

Action folded to Sergio Parrinello, who opened to 25,000 on the Button. Big stacked Jiri Novak made it 80,000 from the Small Blind, and Parrinello made the call.

Novak kept on the aggressive path with a 55,000 bet on the A74 flop, and Parrinello wasted little time before going all in for 236,000. This sent Novak in the tank; he contemplated his decision for two to three minutes before ultimately folding.

As the dealer pushed the chips towards Parrinello, the Italian revealed his 98 holdings. What a move!

Jiri Novak: 688,000
Sergio Parrinello: 471,000

Wojtas tabled QJ, which was enough to take down the pot. Surely, he’s one of the five biggest stacks at this point.

Entries: 68/452
Prize Pool: €1,192,442

The final flight of the Main Event has just concluded, and Anna Lindgren and Christopher Grech were the unfortunate players to bust during hand for hand play.

On the soft bubble, Grech was all-in in a blind on blind clash.

Christopher Grech: AK
Opponent: 95

Grech had a premium hand, but his opponent was live, and turned a flush on the T6385 runout.

On the stone bubble, Lindgren was all-in for around 130,000 and at risk.

Anna Lindgren: KK
Opponent: AT

Lindgren was looking good, but again a flush appeared on the turn to leave the at risk player dead on the 98259 runout.

Counts of qualifiers, start of Day 2 chip counts and the seating draw will follow shortly.

Galvin Wins Ladies Event; Vestertas and Sarris Top Main Event Flights with Day 2 on Horizon as Prize Pool Tops Seven-Figures 31 May 10:25 by Richard Hayes

Mary Galvin

There was barely a spare chair in the house at Casino Malta on Day 3 of the Battle of Malta 2026 Summer Edition, as hordes of players arrived for another packed schedule of tournaments.

Chips flew in all directions, with the Ladies Event and Days 1e and 1f of the Main Event taking center stage. Irish eyes were smiling, as Mary Galvin emerged as the Ladies Champion, banking €1,970, and a €555 ticket to the OlyBet Queens of Tallinn Event in August, in the process.

In the Main Event, Marian Klitchev of Bulgaria (1,520,000) topped almost 1,000 runners in Day 1e, while Dimitrios Sarris of Greece (603,000) bagged biggest in Day 1f, as the €700,000 guarantee was comfortably exceeded. The final starting flight kicked at 10 a.m. today, May 31, and the prize pool has just topped the seven-figure mark, currently standing at a huge €1,031,523. Day 2 qualifiers will return at 7 p.m., when the final figures and payouts will be known.

There were also side event victories for Richard Burke in the H.O.R.S.E event, and there was a chop between Italian Fabiano Montanaro and Christos Thomas of Greece in the Hyper Turbo.

Another extensive menu of tournaments awaits, and players who do not find a bag for Day 2 of the Main Event can get their teeth into a slate of side events, including a PokerHouse NLH tournament, PLO 4/5 card, and netwin Bounty event. Meanwhile, the €1,100 buy-in Star Yes High Roller event features a huge €200,000 guarantee.

€600 Main Event Days 1e-1f Recap

Battle of Malta Tournament Room

As expected, Day 1e drew the biggest crowd thus far, and the tournament room was a sea of heads, with every table occupied. A total of 991 entries were logged, which meant 149 players qualified for Day 2.

Lithuanian Ugnius Vestertas bagged a seven-figure stack of 1,010,000 to take the overall tournament lead, and he was followed by Ugnius Vestertas of Lithuania (1,010,000) and Brit Robert McAdam (973,000). McAdam has been in hot form in 2026, racking up a string of top-three finishes in major mid-stakes events, and is a name to watch.

In Day 1f, a further 288 entries were collected, and Dimitrios Sarris (603,000) ended up at the front of the queue of 22 qualifiers, followed by Veaceslaw Jumir of Moldova (577,000) and Fabrizio Pillitteri (486,000). Vestertas and Sarris, as with all Day 1 chip leaders, also earned themselves a package to the Battle of Malta Slovakia Edition.

Defending champion Adrian Ziemichod of Poland (462,000) and former champion Dario Barone of Italy (153,000) are in the running for a historic double, while plenty of other notables are in the mix, including Latvian Matiss Celmins (531,000) and Mihai Nistor of Romania (452,000). With the final starting flight still to be completed, 288 players have now qualified for Day 2.
