Malta’s poker events attract a large number of players to the islands several times a year and the impact upon the local economy has not gone un-noticed by the Maltese government.
Silvio Schembri, the Government Minister for the Economy & Industry paid an unexpected visit to the Battle of Malta today. It was expected by the casino management of course, but was a surprise for most people to see him on the tournament floor.
Telly Bartolo, the Battle of Malta’s Director of Logistics commented that “It’s great to see the Government taking an interest in Malta’s poker industry,” adding that he would also be interesting to see Silvio at the tables, “maybe he will return one day as a player!”
