Day 1a of the Main Event of the Battle of Malta 2025 Spring Edition is now officially underway. The opening ceremony is not taking place at this festival, but instead there is a welcome video, which takes place on a huge video wall, showcasing moments from previous editions, plus some spectacular shots of the Maltese islands.

Telly Bartolo then gave a short speech to welcome players and introduce the Tournament Director, Andy Tillman before the shuffle-up and deal took place. The Main Event and the Mystery Siege are now both in-play, with 32 players currently participating in the Main and 44 in the Siege.

The first news from the floor will soon be delivered by Chris Karlen, who is reporting here for the first time at the Battle of Malta.
