Luca Tonarelli (8th Place)
Rasmus Lundstroem opened to 400,000 from early position with K♠K♦. Luca Tonarelli three-bet to 1,075,000 with Q♥Q♠ as tension rose with the amount of chips in the pot. A standard four-bet (2,475,000) and five-bet all in jam (6,525,000) took place. Lundström’s chips were immediately in the middle for a call as the two players revealed their hands to the table.
The board ran 9♦A♣J♦K♥4♠ to send the the Florence local home. For his efforts Tonarelli was rewarded with €12,760.
Luca had been active in the early stages of the final table and had built his stack up to almost 5.5m, more than double the stack he started with. It will have been a very disappointing moment for Luca, however he was upbeat in his exit interview with Glenn Brown.
Despite just losing out in the biggest tournament of his life. He said that he has thoroughly enjoyed the event, which he attended along with his number one fan, girlfriend Victoria. We feel confident that he’ll be back and having cashed in both of this and the 2024 Autumn edition, he’ll be going for a hat-trick next time. Well played sir!
