Spotted in the Mystery Siege of Malta is Daniel Maunders, who was runner up in the 2024 Battle of Malta Spring Edition, where he was beaten heads-up byu Greek Vasileios Zizis. He’s sharing a table with the Fantastic Ladies in Poker (FLIP) founder Daiva Byrne. FLIP is sponsoring the Ladies event, which takes place on Monday.

Another fantastic lady of the poker world Gia Carnestrom is playing in the Main Event today. She won the ladies event at the last edition of the Battle of Malta and with several victories under her hat in recent years, she will be a force to reckoned with. Tussle with this cowgirl at your peril!

Many local players have also shown up play today, including James Paris, Shuan Decesare, Mark Attard and David K Lappin. The first player to be eliminated was Italian local Guilio Spampinato, but with four starting days to go, we might yet see him again. So far three players have been sent to the rail, but they won’t be the only ones to make the walk of shame on this first day of the competition.
