Day 1c, the third starting day of the Battle of Malta 10 Main Event has now begun. Before play commenced, a short video welcome was shown to 140 players who took their seats for the first hand of the day. Its now up to over 150 and climbing steadily.
There were double the number of players at the start of the flight than there were yesterday and it turned out be a long one, with a 3-hour soul crushing bubble and one has to feel bad for Johan Sundgren, the unfortunate who went home to the sound of dawn birds chirping with nothing but a sore head.
The knights are back again today and doing a great job ensuring nobody manages to pilfer one of the glass trophies that bear their likeness. I do feel a bit sorry for the guy in the Ned Kelly style mask, he really doesn’t look that comfortable, but at least he won’t be recognised afterwards.
Once hosts Glenn Brown and Valeria had made their introductions, the words “shuffle up and deal” uttered by Rudy, the BOM Tournament Director, got the flight started.
