Right off the bat, Luca Micalef opened to 7,000 UTG. Michal Wesolowski (UTG+1), Francesco Amendola (Hi-jack), and Pavlos Benakis (Big Blind) all made the call.
The dealer was just about to deal the flop, but he accidentally pulled four cards from the top of the deck instead of the customary three. Mistakes happen to the best of us, and he called the floor over who did a casino shuffle of the four cards, and discarded one of them as the next burn card. As such, the flop read 5♠K♦6♥, and all four players checked. Benakis then bet 5,000 on the 4♦; Wesolowski and Amendola both made the call.
Benakis and Wesolowski both checked the 9♣ river before Amendola fired a hefty 18,000 bet. Benakis made the call without too much hesitation, prior to Wesolowski quickly mucking his hand.
Francesco Amendola: A♠7♠
Pavlos Benakis: K♥2♥
Not the best kicker in the world, but Benakis’ read was correct, and he had no problem trumfing the ace-high of Amendola. We’ll never know if the intended flop would have been different.
Luca Micalef: 240,000
Michael Wesolowski: 170,000
Pavlos Benakis: 170,000
Franceso Amendola: 54,000
