There’s a ton of side events on this year’s Battle of Malta schedule giving players of all kinds the chance to have fun and get involved – in addition to the €1 million guaranteed Main Event.
MPN, which is bringing hundreds of qualifiers to this year’s Battle of Malta, is hosting the No Limit Hold’em MPNPT Battle. This €135 + €15 buy-in event (which is included as part of the package for MPN qualifiers) is being held at 6pm on Monday, October 29, the penultimate day of the festival. With a tempting starting stack of 20,000, 20-minute blind levels and single re-entry option, this promises to be a very well attended event with a soft cap of 300 players. Battle of Malta is the fourth stop of the year for the MPN Poker Tour which has already visited Morocco, Bratislava and Sunny Beach in Bulgaria. This is the first time the network has run qualifiers for Battle of Malta and the response from players has been overwhelming.
888poker is another one of the main Battle of Malta sponsors and is bringing dozens of online satellite winners to this year’s event. 888poker has had huge success with its Crazy Eights events at the World Series of Poker in Vegas and this year’s Battle of Malta gives players a chance to enjoy the fun as well. The €88 Crazy 888s Battle kicks off at 7pm this Friday (October 29) and features a “Win the Button” format. Simply put, if you win the pot, you also win the dealer button. A stunning iconic sterling silver bracelet from luxury jewellers Tiffany & Co. will be awarded to the winner of this year’s Battle of Malta Ladies Event. The beautiful prize is part of the champion’s package by Poker League of Nations who are sponsoring the €110 buy-in tournament. The Battle of Malta Ladies Event kicks off at 5pm on Saturday (October 27). Players will get a 20,000 starting stack and have unlimited re-entries through to the end of late registration. Last year’s Ladies Event winner – Soile Lerviks of Finland – took home a cash prize of €2,100 after she outlasted a field of 74 entries that created a €6,548 total prize pool. Poker League of Nations (PLON) is the world’s largest and most internationally represented women’s poker organization.
On Sunday, the EPS Battle is taking place – sponsored by the European Poker Series. This two-day event has a €300 + €30 buy-in and a huge field is expected (soft cap of 400). Players get a generous 30,000 stack with 25-minute blind levels.
On Monday (October 29) the Israeli Poker Championship is hosting the IPC Battle Turbo. This €200 + €20 buy-in event starts at 1pm in the Eden Arena with players getting a 20,000 starting stack. Blind levels are 15 minutes and there’s unlimited re-entries until the end of late registration.
The flagship event of the Battle of Malta is the €550 buy-in Main Event starting on October 25. Last year the Main Event attracted a staggering 2,074 entries, making it the largest poker tournament ever held in Malta – and this year the guarantee has been DOUBLED to €1,000,000!
This year’s Battle of Malta is set to be the biggest yet and a huge turnout is expected. The six-day festival starts on Wednesday at the InterContinental Arena Conference Centre and runs through to the gripping final day on October 30.
