Battle of Malta history
Designed for low- to mid-stakes poker players, Battle of Malta has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2012 and is now one of the most popular stand-alone events in Europe. Battle of Malta won the 2014 European Poker Awards “Event of the Year” title in the category for buy-ins up to €2,000.
In 2018, the Main Event was given a €1 million guarantee for the first time but massively exceeded the expected turnout.
Battle of Malta was launched by PokerListings and is now operated by Eden Leisure Group which also owns Casino Malta, the Hotel InterContinental (Malta’s largest 5* hotel), the Holiday Inn Express, and the InterContinental Arena Conference Centre. Not only is the Eden Leisure Group one of the biggest players in Malta’s hotel and casino industry in Malta, but its sister company the Olympic Entertainment Group also owns more than 100 gaming operations in seven different countries, giving players all over Europe the chance to win their Battle of Malta seat in live satellites to be held throughout Italy, the Baltics and other countries.
For the second year running, MainEventTravel.com will be the event’s Official Travel Partner.
