Besides our everlasting favorite French BoM winner Nicolas Proust, a growing number of French players have started to make the hop over the Mediterranean to take a shot at BoM glory.
In the case of a few French players who have made the island their home, they’ve come a bit less far. But still.
Two of the French poker community’s biggest stars – Erwann Pecheux and Johan “YoH Viral” Guilbert – have joined the gang this year alongside BoM reg Clement Brunet Manquat.
Pecheux is a Team Pro for PMU Poker with $1.6m in career live tournament earnings including a runner-up finish in a $1,500 event at the WSOP. YoH Viral is a coach from the French Reality show House of Bluff and a widely followed YouTube streaming star.
At last check Clement had about 57k, a bit below average. Clement played yesterday’s Day 1a and when he busted headed for the evening satellite for another, cheaper go.
He didn’t qualify from the satellite, though, so he fired a second bullet today.
Despite moving tables “about 10 times” today Clement, much like all the players we’ve spoke to, has said he’s been amazed by the new venue and the number of players.
We hope Erwann and Johan are enjoying themselves, likewise. We’ll check in on their stacks post-haste. In the meantime, some pictures of them:
