A big pot was developing on Table 1. While the hand didn’t have a showdown, it took close to 10 minutes to play out. We caught up with the hand when Karol Bogusz three-bet to 43,000 from the small blind and was facing a four-bet by Stavros Markovis-Taskas from the big blind. Both players had massive stacks in front of them. Bogusz tanked for several minutes before he called.
Bogusz checked the 4♠3♥T♣ flop. Markovis-Taskas continued for 45,000 a minute later. Bogusz tanked for less than a minute before he called. Bogusz checked again on the 9♦ turn. Markovis-Taskas paused for about 90 seconds before he opted to jam for 153,000. Bogusz tanked for about five minutes and during this time tried to extract some information from his opponent.
“Do you have jacks or kings?” Bogusz asked.
He got no response and went back into the tank again.
“Do you jacks or kings?” Bogusz asked again. “I will have to fold my queens if you don’t talk with me.”
Another minute or two went by before Bogusz apologized to the table.
“I need another minute,” Bogusz said.
The table seemed to understand this was a big spot and about a minute later Bogusz laid down his hand.
We will never know whether Markovis-Taskas had jacks or kings or any other hand as he tossed his hand facedown after winning the pot.
Stavros Markovis-Taskas – 500,000
Karol Bogusz – 410,000
