Day 1a

Day 1A finished with 30 players in the money, who all bagged their chips for Day 2. The first flight of the BoM Main Event got 201 entries and 17 levels of action between the players. The bubble didn’t take long, but the day sure did as the players battled it out for 14 hours.

Vidar Oie(pictured below)  is the chip leader of Day 1A with his massive 556,000 stack, 167,000 more than the one under him. This will secure him a comfortable starting stack for Day 2 which will start Sunday at 19:00.

Unlucky run for Aspen Oeye after he lost a massive pot with AQ against QQ earlier. He put his few remaining blinds all in with 7X4X and got called by pocket Kings. Nothing helped Oeye on the board and he ended up bubbling the tournament.

A big one was played between Gaspare Sposato and Toni Ravnak after Sposato re-raised the button player to 30,000 chips. Ravnak was sitting on the big blind and four-bet to 66,000 followed by a fold and an all-in from Sposato for around 170,000.

What a massive flip right before the money and the end of Day 1A and the money. Ravnak managed to make top pair on the K♥Q♥7♦ flop and held it through 8♥ turn and 5♦ river for a pot totaling more than 350,000.

Gaspare Sposato started the action with a limp from under the gun, followed by a raise by Toni Ravnak to 20,000 and an all-in from Giammarco Colucci (pictured below) for his remaining 23,000 chips on the button. Both Sposato and Ravnak called and went to the flop.

The 2♥5♦2♦5♥3♥ was checked down to the end by both players and Colucci quickly turned his pocked Aces A♠A♦ probably thinking he’d won the pot, but to his surprise, Sposato had 6♥7♥ for the flush on the river. Ravnak turned K♠Q♣ which didn’t matter.

Unlucky for Colucci who almost tripled up his 5 blinds at the start of Level 17.

Osak looked like he was deciding to just call or shove his remaining 145,000 chips and he ended up going for it all. Both players behind him folded.

A monster pot was played between Espen Oeye and Michal Janczarski.

Janczarski raised and got three-bet by Oeye to 23,000, everyone folded and action was back to the original raiser. Not long after Janczarski slowly pushed all of his stack in the middle (176,000). Very tough decision for Oeye who said “This just doesn’t make sense” and made the call shortly after.

With already 40,000 in the middle on a 9♥9♣2♣ flop, the action was heads-up on the 6♠ turn between Boban Stevanovic (pictured below) and Benedickt Wenzel.

Wenzel checked and Stevanovic put in a 19,500 bet, which his opponent called. To the 4♥ river and once again Wenzel checked and Stevanovic made a huge 63,000 bet. Wenzel had a moment to think about it and threw in a blue chip for the call.

Stevanovic quickly turned his 6♣6♥ pocket sixes which was a full-house on this particular board, Wenzel mucked and Stevanovic ended up winning over 200,000 pot.

Sale oltre le 200.000 chips ma poi arriva Robin Hyyppae che gli dimezza lo stack ma rimane comunque sulle 170.000 chips quando l’average è sulle 90.000 chips.

Limpa sempre Tipping che gioca con un cestello di birre al suo fianco (probabilmente il motivo del suo gioco?).

Al primo colpo Pudlowski raddoppia con 5♠ 5♥ contro Q♥ T♣ e A♦ T♠ del bottone su un board: J♦ 7♥ 4♣ 4♠ 3♣.

Poi ancora Tipping limpa 2.000, riceve due all in di Pudlowski per 16.000 e di Sarunas Linkius con Q♠ J♠ che pesca 3 dame contro A10 e AK degli avversari.

Poi arriva un altro limp da utg2 si Leslie Reece con A♣ 3♥ contro Pudlowski che gira A♥ 4♦. Il board: [As] 4♣ 5♣ Q♣ 2♠ scala per Tipping che sale a 200.000 chips.

Alla fine è Robin Hyyppae che con K♠ K♥ spinge preflop sul solito limp e call di Tipping con 4♦ 7♠ che non molla e sul flop 6♠ 4♥ 6♣ riesce ad andare rotto! Hyyppae le mette tutte dentro per oltre 70.000 chips. Turn e river due Fanti e Tipping scende sulle 130.000.

At table 9 is Leslie Reece Tipping show: Pavel Pudlowski busted out on the third attempt, but not before making him double and also giving chips to Sarunas Linkius. He rises above 200,000 chips but then Robin Hyyppae arrives and halves his stack. Tipping still remains on 170,000 chips when the average is around 90,000 chips.

Always limp Tipping playing with a basket of beers next to him (probably the reason for his game?).

On the first shot Pudlowski doubles with 5♠ 5♥ against Q♥ T♣ and A♦ T♠ on the button on a board: J♦ 7♥ 4♣ 4♠ 3♣.

Then again Tipping limps 2,000, receives two jam from Pudlowski for 16,000 and from Sarunas Linkius with Q♠ J♠ who draws 3 Queens against his opponents’ A10 and AK.

Then comes another limp from utg2 to Leslie Reece with A♣ 3♥ against Pudlowski who turns over A♥ 4♦. The board: A♠ 4♣ 5♣ Q♣ 2♠ straight for Tipping who goes up to 200,000 chips.

In the end it’s Robin Hyyppae who with K♠ K♥ pushes preflop on Tipping’s usual limp and call with 4♦ 7♠ who doesn’t give up and on the flop 6♠ 4♥ 6♣ he manages to break! Hyyppae puts them all in for over 70,000 chips. Turn and river two Jacks and Tipping drops to 130,000.

Rune Polden opened from the button and got re-raised by Jokubas Jancevicius to 16,000, known to be a bit wild, Leslie Tipping shoved it all in the middle and both players behind called. Polden had 31,000 behind and Jancevicius had around 108,000.

Polden was in great shape to triple-up with his pocket Jacks, with his opponents holding their outs. The 6♥3♠5♥ made the odds shift a bit as Tipping now had 8 more outs to win the pot with a straight and also a backdoor flush possibility. The Jacks managed to stay ahead on the 8♠ turn and the 3♦ river didn’t change anything for the players.

Rune Polden ended up with a full triple-up, while Jancevicius won a big side pot worth about 154,000 against Tipping, who had almost 300,000 stack 20 minutes earlier.

One of the most colorful players Leslie Tipping just shoved it all on the 6♥4♦K♥ flop after Jokubas Jancevicius raised the button, and both Stavros Karakantas and Tipping flatted from the blinds.

The all-in was huge – 42,800 in a pot of just over 12,000 Jancevicius made the call after some tanking. The action was on Karakantas who pushed forward his big stack of 125,000 and announced that he was all-in, Jancevicius looked like he made a tough laydown.

Luksa led the 6♣9♠3♠ flop with a 2,000 bet, which was swiftly followed by a 8,500 raise by Gkatzas, they got even more action by Roed who re-raised to 25,000. Luksa took his time but ended up folding, Gkatzas didn’t do the same and quickly put in the all-in for a total of 47,700 chips – Roed called and both went to showdown.

Digrys continued for 1,700, which Zube raised to 8,200. Digrys sighed but called anyway before the T♥ turn was checked by both players. Digrys then pushed all-in on the 2♦ river for a massive 41,000.

Zube could only shake his head while he tossed his cards into the muck, resulting in both players ending with equal chips.

The PLO event is a deep-stacked affair with players starting with 25,000 in chips and blinds increasing every 25 minutes. Players can late register and re-enter an unlimited amount of times until the start of Level 9.

Most players will certainly enjoy this fun event but whether they will win is up for debate. Players will start with 20,000 in chips with blinds increasing every 20 minutes.

We ran into Estonia’s Kaidar Viikman, who has enjoyed the Battle of Malta many times in the past, just before the event began.

“Are you hopping into Day 1a of the Main Event?” we asked.

“I will play Day 1c,” responded Viikman. “Today I plan to play the fun event in the €150 Win and Enjoy.”

All three players folded and the pot was shipped to Pohjalainen uncontested.

The next hand, new entry Paschalis Papadopoulos opened from the cutoff, and Scott three-bet to 2,100. Papadopoulos then four-bet to 6,000 and Scott called. Papadopoulos made a continuation-bet of 3,700 on the 9♦5♥K♦ flop, which Scott also called.

Karlsson fired out for 5,000 on the 9♠ turn and was called by Sposato before checking the J♠ river, which put a straight on the board. Sposato jammed for 19,200 a few moments later and it didn’t take a long time before Karlsson called.

Sposato turned over the Q♦J♥ for a better straight than was on the board and doubled through Karlsson who was apparently hoping for a chop as he turned over 9♣8♣.

Turn 8♥ got things going as Mercieca bet 2,000 and got raised by his opponent to 6,000, he then called the raise. The river was J♠ and this time first to act Mercieca checked, not long after Sardana tossed 12,000 into the middle and got Mercieca to muck his cards.

The 3♦ river completed the board and Sardana checked once more. Staniukaitis tossed in another 6,000 chips and Staniukaitis called it off while stating: “I don’t think you have a queen.”

It turned out that Staniukaitis did have a queen, as he tabled A♠Q♣ for trips. Sardana mucked his cards while Nedden headed to the exit with his K♣4♠.

Condo pushed his remaining 12,000 chips in the middle and after some thought Kollatos did the same – SNAP CALL from Zube and the players revealed their cards.
