Many players traveled from the small Baltic country of Lithuania where this author also lives to play in the Battle of Malta. Unfortunately, Michailis Miserkejevas was unable to run out his short stack and was among the first players to head out the door to the cashier for a €1,000 min-cash. Roche pulled far ahead after nailing two pair on the Q♠T♥9♠ flop and Miserkejevas was drawing to a jack and only a jack to complete a gutshot straight draw after the 7♥ followed on the turn.

The 3♠ river didn’t help Michailis and we wish him the best of luck if he decides to enter the €1,100 High Roller beginning at 8 p.m. or any other events today or the rest of the festival.
